ChrisG43 Posted December 29, 2023 #1 Posted December 29, 2023 I was reminiscing with a friend the other night about all my finds from when I lived in Anchorage, AK. It reminded me of these sets that I scored years ago at the Fort Richardson Thrift Shop (on post) in Anchorage, AK around 2007ish? At the time it was just some inexpensive sets of BDU's attached to a full bird Colonel which I thought was cool. I bought 3-4 of these sets (will have to dig the others out). Anyways, what makes these special is that Colonel Michael X. Garrett went on to have a long and distinguished career in the army, retiring in 2022 as a General (four star), serving as Commander of US Army Forces Command. Guess I was at the right place at the right time when they were making the transition to ACU's. At the time Colonel Garrett was commander of the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) of the 25th ID. The unit was constituted at Fort Richardson on 14Jul2005, In September 2006 the Brigade deployed for a 14 month period to Iraq. Very lucky to have found these (I would frequently take my kids to the playground out at Fort Richardson, and would detour by the thrift shop occasionally).
