usmedalman Posted December 15, 2023 #1 Posted December 15, 2023 Are USMC 1915 Haitian Campaign Medals traceable? I have number 3249 and 5260 and would like to fined out who they were awarded to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
collectsmedals Posted December 16, 2023 #2 Posted December 16, 2023 USMC 1915 Haitian Campaign Medal Number 3249 shows as being issued to Michael Gawron: Pvt 24th Co. 2nd Regt, 1st Bde. Number 5260 is above the range of medals I show listed. Source: US Marine 1915 Haitian Campaign Badge Rim # & Roster by Scott D Smith

Source: US Marine 1915 Haitian Campaign Badge Rim # & Roster by Scott D Smith A 1915 Haitian Campaign Medal with USMC reverse was never officially produced/issued. Any 1915 Haitian with USMC reverse is an unofficial strike. Were you actually referring to Scott D Smith's book for the 1919-20 USMC Haitian Campaign Medal.

Smith's book for the 1915 Haitian Campaign Badge Rim # & Roster (see attached photograph). I agree, official 1915 Haitian Campaign medals issued to USMC personnel had USN reverses. However, you can generally tell (not 100%) if a 1915 Haitian Campaign medal was issued to a Marine if the rim number is in the 3000 to 4300 range. The original post did not mention the medal's reverse, just that it was issued to a Marine.
KurtA Posted December 21, 2023 #5 Posted December 21, 2023 Ah I see. The title of that booklet threw me off. It is referring to 1915 Navy Haitian Campaigns issued to Marines. Not 1915 USMC Haitian Campaign Medals.
