Reforger Posted December 15, 2023 Share #1 Posted December 15, 2023 Hi Everyone, You have been awesome in helping me identify various military bases and units on old photos. Now comes the next mystery I'm trying to solve and I could use your help again! The following photos belonged to an Airman and were taken in Asia, presumably Korea or Japan, approximately in the mid 1950's. At least I think they were all taken in Asia, there is no writing on the back. Does anyone recognize any of the locations? They may or may not be from the same Air Force base. I know this Airman served in Korea in the 1950's. Could they have been taken in Osan, Korea? That's just a guess. If anyone can identify any of the locations in the photos, it would be a big help! Thank you! Details from one of the photos. There is Asian writing on the bottom of the sign, but not clear enough to identify. Maybe Korean or Japanese? Reforger Posted December 16, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted December 16, 2023 Again, you guys are awesome! That was just the info I was looking for. It is the same Daibutsu! With that info I spent hours looking at old photos of US air bases in Japan. I finally was able to identify the base in the winter photos. It is Niigata Air Force Base in Japan! I will inform the grandchild of the Airman who had these photos, I'm sure he'll be happy to find out where his grandfather served. Thank you for your time and effort!
