MattOravik Posted March 21, 2009 #1 Posted March 21, 2009 I've been looking for any kind of info about a cruise book for the WWII destroyer Uss Forrest (DD-461, later DMS-24). Was a cruise book printed for every ship? I can find no info that one was printed for the Forrest. -Matt.
S5th Posted October 8, 2021 #2 Posted October 8, 2021 As far as I have been able to ascertain - no cruise book for the USS Forrest exists. There are, however, a few other ships in DesRon 10 which published some cruise books; both in the 1940s and 1950s.
29navy Posted October 9, 2021 #3 Posted October 9, 2021 Cruise books were produced by each individual ship. At the end of WWII, ships were being decommissioned so fast and crews that manned the ones left were turning over so fast, many never had the opportunity or the people that would have wanted one, were long gone.
