Hi,

what do you think about this shirt?

At the first look it seems to be an camo 1st pattern HBT of the US Army.

But then there are the plastic buttons, the weaved pocket flaps and the strange waist adjustment straps.

USMC blůza Frogskin - PX Monkey (px-monkey.com) Edit: link doesn't work here...

Could this be a variation of the camo 1st pattern HBT shirt, a tailored one or just a fake?

Best regards,

Lukas

Hello

I am not specialist of this kind of garment but what I have seen so far on originals:

- they were reversible green/camo

- buttons were metallic

- material was hbt while here it is more "tent"

not a big fan of this one

Thanks Max!

I didn't look at the material itself yet.

You are right, it's not HBT material.

Lukas

Lukas, according to Harlan Glenn, collector and author of "United States Marine Corps - Uniforms, Insignia and Personal Items of World War II" aka "Dungarees and Frog Skin" it is a Theatre-made camo jacket.

At least that was his take on it when he included it in his book.

The jacket you posted is the same jacket on pages 84-86.

Thanks for the information, very interesting!

I can't figure out the full name for researching the Marine.

Guess it could be "Sebestin"!?

"A B Sebestin" not a very common name. Dosent pull up much.

Maybe some of the research gurus on USMF can reasearch this guy.

Thanks for your research Dave!

Billy Sebestin died on Iwo Jima on the first day of the landing.

I also researched on ancestry and it seems that he fought on Kwajalein, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima.

But could it be the one stamped on the jacket?

I guess the 1st name should start with an "A" regarding the stamp. (but I have to say I don't know if it is common or tradition in the US to only use the 2nd name)

Best regards,

Lukas

Looks like one of the early test pattern shirts in shelter half material.

Hello Gentlemens

Apologie to late reply

The jacket will go to France, as one of my friend got it

I was not aware that this post existed.

To be clear, it's a original Theater-made (from a P41 tunic) that was showed up on Sir Harlan Glenn book ?

(I don't know so the question will be rude) Could we trust the book ?

Thanks in advance

Louis.
