WWII 11th AF Flight Engineer DFC & AM - 2,700 Flight Hrs

Please bear with me…I posted this tribute using my iphone😅.  The DFC & AM were awarded to TSgt Lee E. Chesterfield.   He reportedly logged more flight time during WWII than any other enlisted flyer in the 11th Air Force…and died in a horrific (company owned) plane crash in 1946.

My pleasure.  It's such a tragic story.  TSgt Chesterfield was on top of the world...actively pursing a post war aviation dream...until his aircraft encountered an ominous fog bank.  His bright (white hot) future was snuffed out in a snap.
