A picture of my latest M831 HEAT round, pictured left). I have an M831A1 in the case and was looking around for the older M831 projectile ( it has the longer body with fins) for a few years. I finally found a pulled one.

Difference between the M831 and M831A1 Heat round. From what I can find, the M831 was manufactured for only a few years. Apparently, they figured out how to drop the fin assy, saving millions in production costs. I can’t wrap my head around a “coffee can with a spike “ moving almost 5,000 feet per second remains stable in flight.

Adding pictures of markings. Of note it is a “pulled” example. Remnants of the combustionable casing remains. A 1985 date on the M831, a 1995 date on the M831A1.
