Guest Shdittman Posted November 15, 2023 #1 Posted November 15, 2023 Hi All, I am new here. My mom and dad served in the military and met at Fort Belvoir. My dad was Chief of Camouflage at ERDL. His name was Adolph Henry Humphreys (1918-1993). I and my family have always thought he was the chief designer of ERDL camouflage. He studied art at the Maryland Institute of Art. He was a team player and always gave credit to the people around him especially Dave Gee who was a physicist. On Wikipedia his good friend, John Hopkins is given the credit for the design of ERDL camo. (His name is misspelled there as Hopkinsing.) He and his wife, Fran, were good friends of my parents and I am sure he had a hand in developing the design, but as chief I would like to see my dad get credit. His friends dubbed him, "Mr. or Col. Camouflage." I have not done my homework on this or even on my own father. If anyone knows about ERDL and its beginnings or knows where I can get such things as dates when my dad served as Chief of Camouflage I would be most grateful! My dad's time at Fort Hood was mentioned on this forum and that is why I joined and am asking here. Thanks so much. And thank you for your service! Susan Humphreys Dittman
