aerialbridge Posted October 22, 2023 #1 Posted October 22, 2023 Nice medal up on ebay ending this afternoon at 7 Pacific Time. Seller out of the Kingdom of Hawaii who I'm not familiar with has a very nice attributed medal with scarce original first type ribbon to CDR Fred C. Bieg, who died in October 1909. Since they didn't issue these until starting the end of 1908, he didn't have it for very long. His son, Valentine, was also a USNA grad (1910) and Engineering Officer assigned to the dirigible ZR-2 (British designation R-38), killed when the airship exploded and crashed near Hull, England on August 24, 1921. https://www.ebay.com/itm/166380181949 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/49122276/frederick-charles-bieg
