Help With 820th Engineer Aviation Battalion DUI

I'm in the process of restoring an Ike jacket for display that was donated to our town's historical society.  The soldier was assigned to the 820th Engineer Aviation Battalion (9th Engineer Command).  I'm interested in including a set of DUIs in the display.  I've had no luck finding any either actual DUIs or even a picture of one.

Does anyone have a picture of an 820th Engineer Aviation Battalion DUI they could send me or post on this thread.  Additionally, I'd be interested in purchasing a couple of them if anyone has some they would be willing to part with.

Below is a photo of the Ike showing the sleeve with the SSI and overseas stripes.  The verteran was an early deployer to England for airfield construction and came ashore at Normandy on D+1.

Thanks,

Dennis

This may be a post-WW2 adopted insignia . This was described as the 820th Engineer Battalion. I don't know if the 820th had a DUI during the war.

Thanks very much.  That is 100% more than I have been able to find.  I'll continue the search from there.

This seems plausible because the triagular shaped image at the top looks a lot like the one on the 9 Engineer Command SSI.

I have found DUIs for sale online, but they are post-WW2 insignia. My suspicion is that the 820th did not have a DUI during WW2, and only had one designed, adopted, and made after the war.

That design represents an airfield. It can be found on other DUIs of engineer battalions that were aviation engineer battalions in WW2. Many aviation engineer battalions, if not inactivated after WW2 or the Korean War, were redesignated as engineer battalions.

That sounds reasonable.  I'll poke around that and see if I can determine whether it would be more appropriate for the display to forgo the DUIs.

Thanks,

Dennis

Thanks very much for the photo.  That's a great looking DUI.
