First Kelly 1917A1 Helmet

Here's my first Kelly helmet. I've always liked them, and here recently got back into collecting US stuff after a hiatus. They used to be "cheap" but everything seems to have gone up in price (when you're looking to buy something, prices are down when selling).

 

I've paired it with a pre-war dress jacket until I can get a more period appropriate uniform for it. I'll have to snap more pictures soon.

It turns out there is a name in it I did not initially see. "WINDERS". Also a laundry number, but it does not line up with a "WINDERS". The laundry number appears to be W-6155 or W-6755.

Possibly another name? What might have caused the dark stain?

A nice British made shell converted to 1917A1 spec.  Nice find.

That is a nice helmet. 

as for prices, with the worthless dollar and inflation, I find that militaria has not really been affected as you would think. Give it time. It amazes me there still dollar boxes at shows.
