Hello everyone, I got this the other day and I`m looking for help with an identification. I`m guessing it`s a transportation squadron or possibly maintenance. 4914 is in pencil on the back. I found 4914 mentioned three times on the USAF Orders of Battle site from Kirtland, but I don`t think any would apply to this one. I also checked the Robert Mueller list of bases in the states up to 1982, but still nothing transportation related using 4914 when I searched Kirtland. I even tried Google Lens. Thanks in advance.

If you obtained this from Mr. "Extremely Rare", it is probably his late Great-Uncle's stock/reference number written on the reverse. I've seen non-pertinent numbers written the reverse of hundreds/thousands of that seller's patches.

Typo / should be: "on the reverse".

Thanks for your reply. You do have the correct seller. I`ve bought patches from the seller over past few years and a bunch were listed as unknown. I`ve been on a good streak getting IDs for them and I`m hoping to keep the streak alive lol.

I recently saw a Civil Engineering patch with a locomotive on it. That made me wonder if this one might be one of those because of the train tracks, but I got nowhere with that search.

Saw this while looking for something else. 5001st Motor Vehicle Squadron/Transportation Squadron, Ladd AFB, AK. Circa 1950s.

No way!! I figured this patch would always be an unknown. Where did you see the patch??

Polder's books, Volume 6, page 65. Funny as I had seen your old post here a week earlier looking for something else, Then I saw this while doing the same in his book. Not much history out there on it, but it did exist.

I can`t thank you enough. My wife always asks why I buy patches that are unknown.

I have a full bag of them. About once every year or so one turns up with an ID. More often that not, pure gold. So I get it! You might want to mark it as ID'd to change the unknown title.
