Looking for artillery shell part, and if I am really lucky, a tap.

Hello, looking for a fuze adapter used on a 16" MK13/14 naval shell. Adapts steel nose plug (1.5" thread) to the auxiliary detonating fuze (with standard 2" thread, (lifting plug common to many artillery shells). The one I have is damaged and would be a difficult repair. The number on it is10001-434045-D. I attached a schematic showing the location and a photo of the one i have. The one i have is missing the 2" od thread, only 3 threads of the 1.5" id section remain.

Also, does anyone in the midwest have a 2"-12 tap they could lend me to chase the threads in the auxiliary detonating fuze?  Having problems screwing in the lifting eye with the demil damage, and cleaning the threads up with a tapered grinding wheel seems like a good way to make them ugly.

Luckily a vendor is able to let me borrow a tap to chase the threads in the auxiliary.  Yeah!  Now just need to find a replacement adapter or bite the bullet and machine one.

I bought one from  old guns.net I believe a few years ago for my 16”50. Look under Ordnance go through his inventory or email him.

Thanks for the recommendation.  I had bought a few items from John in the past.  I just sent him a message.

I have been 3D printing fuze to shell adapters as needed. It saves a lot of time compared to making chips on the lathe.

I have one, but it is attached to my projectile, which is sitting in a local museum.Have you checked around for a thread file?
