36thIDAlex Posted September 20, 2023 #1 Posted September 20, 2023 A small little post today, as school and work have been pretty crazy and slowing my write ups. Happy to add this really neat ceramic veteran’s plaque for a former member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. Finding anything from these astounding veterans is extremely rare, so I am always happy to try and pick up unique pieces representing their history. This plaque belonged to a California veteran who served during the war as a member of L Company, 3rd Batealion within the 442nd and features a beautifully embossed 3-d sculpt of the 442nd patch as well as engraving along the sides showing the campaigns, name, and motto of the unit. It appears to be hand-painted, and the sides potentially repainted at some point, but is still a really tasteful piece to display alongside my other wartime pieces from the regiment. They are some of my favorite veterans to preserve and share.
Bluehawk Posted September 21, 2023 #2 Posted September 21, 2023 > Nice to see that, thank you. I recently wrote a relatively brief summary of their unit history for TWS monthly Dispatches newsletter. https://airforce.togetherweserved.com/usaf/newsletter2/118/newsletter.html
dmsusuki Posted April 19 #3 Posted April 19 A very nice artifact. These came in pairs, the one you have and the other is the 442nd distinctive insignia, the go for broke DI with the Mississippi steamboat. They are made of plaster of Paris and were made in Pisa, Italy. They are very fragile, so be careful. I had a few of them, but sold them at the Bob Chatt show in Pomona, California. I have one set left. Will be posting my 442nd and Nisei WW2 item later thanks, Mark Susuki aka dmsusuki a few attachments hope you like them
