postmanusnac Posted September 19, 2023 #1 Posted September 19, 2023 I’m extremely excited to add this Ike, which is ID to Pfc Louis Fritzel from Pueblo, CO. In a year of really great additions to my collection it is still only my second FA Ike. It has also become one of my favorites. The domed brass are actually made from British half pennies. On the underside of the US disc you can see the tails of a 1943 coin and head side on the arty disc. The ribbons are sewn onto a pin-back bar. All around a great Ike.
VMI88 Posted September 20, 2023 #2 Posted September 20, 2023 I really like those collar disks! Can you show a close up view of the front?

Jhos71 Posted September 21, 2023 #6 Posted September 21, 2023 Those collar disc are fantastic. Got to love personalized piece!
VMI88 Posted September 24, 2023 #7 Posted September 24, 2023 Thanks! The crossed cannons seem to have excess brass in the angles - I wonder if they were also cast locally? Hard to tell with the US but I can't imagine why you'd need to make disks from coins unless you were making the entire insignia.
