RickJ Posted September 13, 2023 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2023 Don't know what this stake is for, or if it is a stake. Could be WWII or 1964 Exercise Desert Strike era as it was found in an area used by both.

RickJ Posted September 13, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted September 13, 2023 Now that you mention it, it does. Maybe it was re-utilized in the field.

Hi Rick. a bit late in the day here ( nearly midnight ) for me to go outdoors and photograph one in location, but for me it looks like one of the farmers old fence post extenders for electrified fencing around animal enclosures, most are plastic insulated ones now. Lots are recovered from fields by people metal detecting here in Normandy. regards lewis. .
SGM (ret.) Posted September 16, 2023 Share #5 Posted September 16, 2023 I'm guessing a spring tine from a horse / tractor pulled hay rake. The rakes are occasionally used (abused) to smooth out loose soil and sand on dirt roads or to rake up debris and cut vegetation.
