Eric Queen Posted September 4, 2023 #1 Posted September 4, 2023 It may be somewhat of a stretch to call this a "grouping" but I thought it was worth showing none the less. 1st Lt. William T. Wilson took part in Operation Huskey in July of 1943 and later the next year would jump in France as part of the D-Day invasion. He was awarded the Silver Star for his actions on June 7th. He was killed in action in Belgium in January of 1945 and is still buried at the American cemetery there. If anyone has any additional information on Lt. Wilson I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Thank you. First photo was taken at a photo studio in Alcamo, Sicily. I really like the Operation Huskey studio portraits but don't see them available too often. I only have four original examples.

USCapturephotos Posted September 4, 2023 #4 Posted September 4, 2023 Incredible studio photo Eric. I love the overseas studio portraits of GIs and have yet to find one in Sicily. Sad to see the trooper was KIA. Paul
Eric Queen Posted September 4, 2023 Author #5 Posted September 4, 2023 Thanks Paul. Yeah, I have always liked the Sicily studios because of all the combat gear worn, etc. (wish I could find more :-) Here is another one taken in the same studio of (then Cpt.) Talton Long and Lt. Olsen. Long also went on to be awarded the Silver Star for action in Belgium.
USCapturephotos Posted September 4, 2023 #6 Posted September 4, 2023 Beautiful portrait! Thanks for sharing Eric. Please feel free to share your others as well 😁 Paul
