patches Posted August 27, 2023 #1 Posted August 27, 2023 A P.J. O'Conner of the 110th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron 5th Air Force New Guinea sometime in 1943, wearing the Camo. O'Conner an Bell P-39 Airacobra pilot, can't find anything on him other then a tiny image of his from a unit roster poster. Image had to be enlarged as you see, thus degrading the quality I'm sorry to say.
Mr. Bushido Posted August 27, 2023 #2 Posted August 27, 2023 Thank you for sharing. I see him wearing the M1942 jungle suit. I've never seen a pilot wear it, but I thought it looked like a flight suit, except for the elements that could get caught on switches and such. Also, I have what looks like a zipper around the holster belt in the photo. It appears to have a leather tab attached to it, and I'm wondering if it's original or added by pilot.
