Hello QM and subsistence friends-

This arrived last week.  It is a 5 gallon tin of diced, dehydrated potatoes. 12/45.   It has not been opened and still has all the spuds ready for supper!  This was the standard means to get subsistence to front line troops via field kitchens overseas in the ETO, MTO, and PTO.   Dehydration of food saved over 70% of the weight and space.

Take care,
Tab

I think I may have had a sample of these at Fort Bliss this very morning. 🤣

There was still 40s and 50s dated foodstuffs in dark corners of warehouses when I was a QMC warehouseman in the early 80s. Granted it wasn't in circulation, But it was there.  I remember these tins at Ft Chaffee for sure.
