Zouave 1862 Civil War Bayonet?

Yesterday I was in an antique shop and saw the above bayonet.  The bayonet and sheath were in great shape.  The guard was stamped “BH” and “C” which as I understand it, reflect that the bayonet was made by Collins.  I passed on the bayonet, because not a CW collector, but may go back and get it.  A couple of questions, are these particularly rare, collectible?  Shop was asking $400.

I'm assuming your speaking of the bayonet for the Remington two band rifle. I'd say yes they are collectible and depending on condition can be rare. Especially the scabbard. Repros have been around a very long time (at least the 70's) so be careful. Pictures would obviously be awesome, but if I found a really nice condition example complete at $400, I'd buy it. Of course this is simply my .02

Both the bayonet and sheath were in great shape and from what research I had done, original.  There is an interesting story associated with the bayonet.  It came from an estate of a Mae Doelling, a famous pianist from Chicago, B. 1888 D. 1965.  I had previously bought two knives from the estate, a WWII PAL USMC Mark II, and a very nice OSS stiletto.  The owner of a local antique shop bought her entire estate from her nephew, which included numerous knives and swords, and the above civil war bayonet.  The owner of the antique shop did not know how to get in touch with the nephew any longer, because I wanted to learn the story of how Ms. Doelling came to own the collection of blades, and I really wanted to try and identify the owner of the OSS stiletto.  She never had any children, who would have been of WWII age.  Her husband was also a pianist who died in 1945, so no clue how Ms. Doelling came to own this collection.  I may go back and get the bayonet.
