Is this old rusty pistol Civil War era ?

Recommended Posts

Found this on the Route 127 garage sale hunt this year near Camden, Ohio. I bought it for a couple bucks as it looked interesting. Unfortunately seller had no info where it was found. Barrel is about 3 1/2 inches. Pistol looks French of Lefaucheaux(spelling?) style. Any thoughts?

Definitely one of the pin fire varieties that were popular before and during the Civil War.

Cool piece!

Now if the seller had been more savvy, he could have sold it is a ground find at a farm that saddled the route Morgan's Raiders took (about 20 miles away) during the War and coughed out more $$$'s! 😁

hello,

I believe your relic pistol is an 1870's-ish Belgian made pinfire with folding trigger.  you can see the line on yours where it folds. If you google this you will see exact non-dug images.  I hope this helps.  cheers!
