USMC_COLLECTOR Posted July 23, 2023 #1 Posted July 23, 2023 Hello, I’m looking to put together a different Vietnam War Us Advisor impression and I’m wondering what cut of uniform to use. There are a few types I’m looking at. First the paratrooper cut, Then the shirt with just two shirt pockets, And finally the shirt with chest and skirt pockets. What would be the all around best cut to get? Thanks
earlymb Posted July 23, 2023 #2 Posted July 23, 2023 I would go for WPG's TAP 47/52 jacket, as it would have been possible to find those in Vietnam.
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted July 23, 2023 Author #3 Posted July 23, 2023 So the paratrooper jacket would be the most common? 5 hours ago, earlymb said: I would go for WPG's TAP 47/52 jacket, as it would have been possible to find those in Vietnam.
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted July 23, 2023 Author #6 Posted July 23, 2023 Perfect. Thanks earlymb and doyler.
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted July 23, 2023 Author #7 Posted July 23, 2023 Does it have both jump wings? 29 minutes ago, doyler said: purchased from a local vet
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted July 23, 2023 Author #8 Posted July 23, 2023 And does it have the ARVN two locust rank on the shoulder?

They probably were, but it's best to base your impression on either period photo's or surviving pieces such as doyler's beautiful TAP smock (notice the press buttons at the lower front for the beaver tail) . Either way, make sure it's a pre-1955 model(variant).
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted July 24, 2023 Author #10 Posted July 24, 2023 Ok perfect. Thanks so much. 4 hours ago, earlymb said: They probably were, but it's best to base your impression on either period photo's or surviving pieces such as doyler's beautiful TAP smock (notice the press buttons at the lower front for the beaver tail) . US jump wings on the left ARVN wings on the right, CIB. US ARMY tape and name tape . Rank Captains bars on shoulders. All heavily worn.

USMC_COLLECTOR Posted July 27, 2023 Author #13 Posted July 27, 2023 Ok, I’ve bought the paratrooper uniform and I want to patch it out. I want to have it patched for a 66 timeframe. Would these patches work? I want it mixed yet I need some help. Any help is appreciated. Which would work better, silk wings or OD green arvn wings? And are locally made army nametape a better or should I use a US made one?
