Sorry for whoever bought this, $3800 down the drain.

Seems that Milestone is another auction where  sketchy items and groups are being processed through.

Before we start worrying about some poor collector getting screwed out of a lot of money, I would point out that this uniform "sells" on just about every format where it is offered, yet "theoldcolonel" keeps selling it over and over. I am willing to bet that the buyer was the seller and he was simply backing up the value of the uniform to ensure that it didn't sell to low.

thanks a lot fellas. I should've caught that.    too bad --  and he tried So Hard with the provenance.  Maybe Milestone should be called 'Millstone.'

Here’s a question for forum members who collect uniforms:  What are the chances that such a historically significant uniform would come up for sale and the officer’s name who wore it, is not mentioned?  Seems to me the real value to such a uniform would be associating it with the OSS Colonel who wore it.

It depends on the level of education the seller has.

You know what that uniform reminds me of after seeing it many different times being discussed. It is a lot like many many German Generals uniforms which have been floating around for decades from collection to collection. The majority of all German Army generals uniforms you see for sale today are simply 100% original high quality officers uniforms which are or were relatively cheap when bought 30 years ago since they are basically all alike until insignia is applied. They were stripped of all officers insignia and expertly restored with original Generals insignia (well mostly original insignia with some exceptions). That's why you seldom see original name tags inside those jackets and in certain instances the tag is there, but the name is cutout!! Really...someone bothered to cutout just the name?? But without a name it's more believable in some instances. Just some random thoughts from a uniform collector....
