Signal Corps Test Unit I-176

I grabbed this neat meter at a random yard sale this morning for $10. I will take it in to work on Monday and see if I can get it working. If so, I’ll use it on my test bench. Below the metal name plate on the wood is a marking “M.F.P. Nov 1952”. On the back is another plate marked March 1945.  Does anyone know what “MFP” stands for? I’m guessing it’s a refurb or calibration mark but can’t find anything about what it stands for.

Thanks for looking!

Mikie, MFP is moisture fungus proofed. They started doing that in mid-WWII, but a lot of stuff was redone during Korea. Very cool find

Thank you!

I’ll post more about it once I can play with it hopefully on Monday.

No leads unfortunately. I’ll test it out with a modern set and look for some vintage ones.
