Greetings,

Not sure if i've posted this helmet  before. 

 

I got this from the vets family 10 or 15 years ago. My nicest souvineer helmet. I have the vets info who brought this back somewhere.

 

No liner. Sorry dont have other pics available at this time.

I believe i was told that some enterprising artist collected the helmets off the battlefield and sold them to departing US soldiers.

I have been unable to find much info on the "bloody knoll" battle area.  Any insight and or map of its location on the battlefield would be greatly appreciated.

I bet your right.  Likely named on helmet before names were fixed.
