A shipment of Jeeps arriving at the Utah beach camp-site today from the South of France. Next year is the big one 2024 !!!!!!

There are already hundreds of Jeep whizzing around Normandy this week from all over Europe, the furthest seen so far Norway !!! The weather in Normandy has been atrocious this week, cold, and heavy winds shots of the sea at Utah beach last night. First two around 20h00, last two around 22h30

Looking at my diary for 6th June 2017 I wrote heavy rain, winds of 60 mph with hale stones as large as British five pence pieces ( 20 cent pieces ),

four people killed in the UK from trees blown over crushing them

Used late model Jeeps coming to a Dealer near you...road ready. Financing available....

I've unloaded thousands of new cars but never seen a load of Jeeps like this...  Nice picture.

hi 268th.

It makes some sense arriving en-masse South of France is seven hours drive in a car capable of Motorway / Freeway speeds 120 / 130 KPH

Oh I forgot to mention these are all $50 Jeeps straight from the crates . . . . . . . . . . . . . 😹. First come, first served.  !!!!!!

Several years ago I was having lunch across the street from a car dealership. I watched as a guy was offloading the cars, all by himself, from one of these fully loaded trailers. I never saw this done by just one person before. I must say I was quite impressed by how quickly and efficiently he unloaded the thing. It was like watching a ballet.

Hi earlymb,

You either love or hate the Kubel, about 45 years ago I did think about owning a Kubel as I had examples of the US Jeep I thought maybe I should have an example of the German opposition,  however I remained with the Jeeps and other US vehicles.

A local Jeep owning friend here recently sold a Kubel, he said that he never had the same enjoyment as when driving the Jeep.

The particular Kubel I posted above ( & below ) is owned by a long-term UK friend and he travels all over the UK & Europe with it, his journey to and from D-Day in Normandy this year would have been around 500 miles each way plus whatever touring around Normandy he did.

Funny thing is, while I really like the Kubel, the Schwimmwagen has much less appeal to me... I like them but have no desire to own one, and same with the GPA. Most people don't agree with me on that lol

Carentan today . . . . . .

Took the Jeep down this morning to a show at the Victory museum in Carentan, early afternoon we took a small convoy of military vehicles from the museum up into the town centre to commemorate operation Cobra breakout from Normandy.  Local friend Emmanuel had his immaculate Ford GPA amphibious jeep there, so we took a ride into the boating marina.

Emmanuel is making plans with the Carentan council to try and achieve assembling a thousand Jeeps in Carentan for the 80th anniversary 8th June 2024, so if you are in Normandy in 2024 and in a Jeep please try and come along, please pass this advert onto other Jeep owners.
