frogskin24 Posted May 30, 2023 #1 Posted May 30, 2023 I was wondering if anybody has any evidence of Marines using the Army two piece frogskin uniforms in the Pacific? In the included photo, the Marine on the left is wearing the Army one piece jungle suit and photos of Marines using standard Army hats are quite common. Any insight is appreciated.
doyler Posted May 30, 2023 #2 Posted May 30, 2023 I have two Army OD hbt shirts issued/used by Marines. One has a 4th Marine Division tac marking on the back of the shirt as do the P41 trousers. Both named to the vet. Cant say I have seen any two piece Army camo used. Possible but I havent came across anything.
Dave T Posted June 1, 2023 #3 Posted June 1, 2023 I have never seen an original WWII wartime photo of a Marine wearing the US Army HBT 2 piece camouflage suit. I hate to say "it never happened", but short of a period photo....I dont believe it ever happened. The 1 piece jungle suit yes, but the 2 piece, no. In fact, I dont believe the US Army even used the 2 piece HBT camo suit in the PTO. I have heard the Alamo Scouts did, but all the photos I have seen in regards to Alamo Scouts in camouflage appear to be 1 piece jungle suits.
