4th Miss Cav Posted May 28 Share #1 Posted May 28 Picked up a group of about 30 buttons from a local collector earlier this week. It is a nice mix of dug and non dug. The Confederate buttons were dug at Port Hudson LA. There is a very nice Mississippi I with some gilt remaining. There is also a very nice non dug U S Eagle R and D
4th Miss Cav Posted May 28 Author Share #2 Posted May 28 There are two Eagle buttons that I am not familiar with. One is an I and the other an A. The back mark reads plated with a wreath. Any thoughts on these would be appreciated. I am thinking post war but not sure.
USCapturephotos Posted May 28 Share #3 Posted May 28 Those are silvered eagle buttons and predate the Civil War. I think they’re from the 1840s but don’t remember exactly. Paul
iron bender Posted May 28 Share #4 Posted May 28 They look similar to the buttons from the 1833 shell jacket.
