Acadien359 Posted Friday at 09:34 PM Share #1 Posted Friday at 09:34 PM Here's one I've had for a while that's somewhat of a mystery to me. It's a standard design Army Air Forces officer collar insignia, gilt brass wings with separately applied sliver prop, and straight pin with U-shaped closed face catch on back. As can be seen, it's slightly larger than the standard wartime size insignia [1 1/2 and 1 1/8 inches wide, respectively]. Maker marked LAMODE on back. In my opinion, it's too well made to be a sweetheart pin--possibly a pre-war piece, or maybe a cap badge for Aviation Cadet overseas caps? Looking forward to hearing other suggestions. 268th C.A. Posted Friday at 10:01 PM Share #2 Posted Friday at 10:01 PM Lamode made a lot of sweetheart jewelry. I sold piece years ago to a Lamode family member he told me his dad designed made and distributed it during the war.
Acadien359 Posted yesterday at 03:22 PM Author Share #3 Posted yesterday at 03:22 PM So, sounds like a sweetheart piece after all, thanks for the help! Alan
QED4 Posted 7 hours ago Share #4 Posted 7 hours ago The sizes sound about right for an air cadet overs hat badge (1 1/2 inch) and an officer's collar insignia (1 1/8 inch).
