killen1941 Posted May 23, 2023 #1 Posted May 23, 2023 I found this serving tray 50 years ago in an antique shop. It was taken from the Spanish ship Infanta Maria Mercedes after the defeat of the Spanish fleet on July 3, 1898, by a member of the crew of the USS Brooklyn. His name was H. Vogt who was a cook aboard the USS Brooklyn. He apparently asked an artist to hand paint the tray and the artist, J. H. Meyer, signed his name above the last two stars on the bottom right. I have not been able to find any info about the Infanta Maria Mercedes. Does anyone know anything about this Spanish ship? 20230522_200342743_iOS.heic
