mdk0911 Posted May 22 Share #1 Posted May 22 All, nothing special but I just won these 3 CW eating Utensils. The folding spoon is made by BW and Co. The Metal fork/spoon/knife combo compact set is stamped - "W.H. Richards PATENT JULT 23, 1861 - BOSTON My question is about the Wood handle fork and spoon that slide into each other (not the all metal ones) It is stamped 2nd N.J. INF - any chance CW? thx for your help in advance. Mike
268th C.A. Posted May 22 Share #2 Posted May 22 the first & third I'd say are good Civil War period, the wooden pair not so sure if that's a repro or not. maybe some else will chime in...Nice I like them.
VMI88 Posted May 23 Share #3 Posted May 23 The wooden handled set may be old but I doubt very seriously the markings are original. Fake markings are frequently used to "enhance" legitimate collectables, and mess gear wasn't normally marked.
