Finally have this finished after quite a while. Figure sometime I'll go and buy a black leather earcup assembly and swap out the grey so it is all the same color since I'll be putting the grey form fit liner I had in this one before into one of my HGU-26 project helmets that I want to do up as a A-10 or F-4 double visor helmet.

Hi Mikeym_us

I love the work you have done with your helmet!

Following your rebuild, I have become interested on how you rebuilt your ear piles. Can you explain in some more depth what you did? I am currently rebuilding my own HGU55

I actually used pink anti static foam pads to rebuild the ear piles instead of the foam pile used automobile overheads which are prone to deterioration. Now for assembly I used contact cement on both pieces to attach the pile to the foam and when that is set trim the foam to the correct shape and then you are done.

That’s an excellent idea! I’m also curious about the fabric the headphone Velcro attaches to—what material did you use for that? Please excuse my limited experience, as my helmet collection is still quite small.

I used the original fabric as it is in the correct shape already.
