Sheath Knife 959 Marked ID Needed

I came across this well made sheath knife with leather scabbard that was ID'd as a theatre made one but the quality of the construction makes me think otherwise.  The only markings are the number "959" on the blade.  Overall length is @ 12 1/4" with a @ 7 3/8" blade.  The handle is leather stacked washers with a pair of brown plastic spacers and the blade is a clip point with a wide blood groove. I checked my Cole's Volume 3 Reference book as well as my Theatre Made Knifes ones and no matches but I hope someone can find a reference to it.  Thanks and take care.

TC, I've been waiting to see who might come by with some answers for you.  I can say that over the years some of the known WW2 knives I've collected have come in sheaths very similar to near exact copies of the one you have with this knife.  That being said, IMHO I don't think that sheath would come with a WW2 issued knife.

I also think that the knife has the look of something that was made in some quantity greater than just one or a few.  The style, (font), of the numbers stamped on the blade seem rather unique and maybe someone will recognize them.

I'd encourage you to consider moving this thread out of the reference section and into the main edged weapons area.  The reference section at times can become a place where threads go to die.

Thanks and I have been too, didn't realize I put this post in the reference section so I will see about moving it into the main edged weapons section.  I wouldn't be surprised that the knife and the sheath weren't original to each other but it does fit nicely and looks the part.  And I agree with the numbers and the design it does seem to be more then a one off so here's hoping someone can ID it!

Just a refresh on this knife that I was trying to ID as I'm still hopeful that someone can ID it's maker or timeframe.  It was suggested to move this to the main section of the edge weapons subforum but to be honest not quite sure how to do that.  Thanks.
