Hello

How does this M1917A1 look.  It is in exc ++ condition, and named to a US army "Medical" soldier.....  The buckles are brass..and the buckle is a raised bar version that may be cast?  the sheel is numbered 8A.  Is there a chart for the date of manufacture and heat lot number?

Thank you for looking..

I can't help you with the date, but I do have a question about the helmet liner.  Is the round cushion pad there, but tucked under the tongues?

Thanks,

Steve

Yes, The pad is there.  You are correct, it is covered by the tongues.

It came with a 1942 dated pith Helmet from the same soldier.

From a quick look everything looks good I believe. The buckle is the correct cast variation that can also be seen on early M1s and the box stitching on the hook side looks correct. I don't know of a date chart for m1917a1s but I believe production started very late in 1940 so with a low heat stamp it's likely very end of 1940 or beginning of 1041. Very nice example.
