Picked this up from a local thrift store here in the UK for less than $2. The patches are all original to the jacket and I can’t see any doctoring. I’ve googled and it’s coming up as USASOC.

any info would be much appreciated

This BDU has the United States Army Special Operations Command patch with Airborne Tab on the left sleeve. This person was a Specialist 4 SPC4. I do not see any Airborne wings either. This soldier appears to have been a support MOS of some sort in support of USASOC. There is no minimum rank requirement to join Delta Force. However, the vast majority of Delta Force operators are enlisted soldiers with the rank of sergeant or above. This is because Delta Force requires its operators to have a high level of experience and expertise in a variety of areas, including combat, weapons, and tactics. Enlisted soldiers with more experience are more likely to have the skills and knowledge that Delta Force is looking for. There are a few exceptions to the rank requirement. For example, officers with the rank of captain or above may be eligible to join Delta Force if they have the necessary experience and qualifications. Additionally, Delta Force may recruit civilians with special skills or training, such as doctors or engineers. However, these cases are rare.

The selection process for Delta Force is very rigorous and competitive. Only a small percentage of applicants are accepted into the unit. The process includes a physical fitness test, a medical exam, an intelligence test, and a psychological evaluation. Applicants must also pass a background check and a polygraph test.

You can see the ghosting of where the wings were removed. Either Airborne qualified or Air Assault. With this attachment to USASOC however I would expect he was ABN qualified. Definitley aligned with the ID of someone in the Support group of USOC.

As stated it could have been someone in some sort of support position with USASOC. There are a lot of support types in all SOF units. Someone needs to get their supplies, cook their food, repair their weapons, translate documents, etcetera.

It could also have been someone in the 160th as they wore that patch until the 2000s. It could have been anyone from a mechanic to a door gunner/crew chief.

USASOC was an 'umbrella' organization with a lot of smaller units under it.  The 112th Signal Battalion and 528th Special Operations Support Battalion both fell under USASOC and wore the USASOC patch.

Both the 112th and 528th had lots of lower enlisted personnel in them and most of them were NOT airborne qualified nor on jump status.  I actually lived in the 528th SOSB barracks when I was in 3rd SF Group.

To answer your question directly, there aren't any SPC/E-4s in SFOD-D unless they're in a support capacity.  That is most likely someone from either USASOC HQ, 112th Signal or 528th SOSB.

I know this is a bit old, but I was looking at it again, and noticed the ghosting of the badge above the Army tape. That wasn't either parachute or air assault wings. It's a square not the rectangle that those would be.

Off the top of my head all I can't think of might be a diver's badge, or posibly an EFMB. Oh, maybe a Pathfinder badge.
