SA1794 Posted April 20, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 20, 2023 I came across this front seam, swivel bail helmet. I am hoping someone can help identify the era during which such style MP helmet was used? Any information is appreciated.
644td Posted April 20, 2023 Share #2 Posted April 20, 2023 I’m not a MP expert even though my son is a MP but it looks Vietnam era.
Usmc2004 Posted April 20, 2023 Share #3 Posted April 20, 2023 I think this style has been around since mid 1950’s it’s hard to say exactly when that particular one would have been used. The brightness of the paint would lead me to think this one was painted much more recently. Just from the one photo it looks like it has been painted a couple times before. Nickman983 Posted April 21, 2023 Share #4 Posted April 21, 2023 Agree with the others, late 50s-60s would be my guess. Did it come with a liner and does it have sewn on chinstraps or crimp on chinstraps? If they're crimp on seeing the chinstraps could help narrow down the date a little. Liner may also help but neither of those are definitive as they get added/removed by collectors sometimes.
SA1794 Posted April 26, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted April 26, 2023 Hey Nickman: There is no liner with the helmet, and the chinstraps are are crimp style. Thanks for the input.
