Basic Rifleman Posted April 20, 2023 Share #1 Posted April 20, 2023 I've only seen a few of these in collar size (this one is larger - about twice the size) and some were listed as "unknown chaplain insignia", some "US Navy", one was "Navy V-12" program. The marks are from Hilborn & Hamburger along with Sterling. It has shorter clutch posts and came with flat faced Sterling clutches. I do believe it to be from WWII, but would love to know for sure who wore this...
DocCollector1441 Posted April 21, 2023 Share #2 Posted April 21, 2023 It was, as you posted, for Divinity Students enrolled in the Navy's V-12 program during the war. Though, I have only known them to be collar sized, so I am not sure why yours would be bigger.
Kurt Barickman Posted April 21, 2023 Share #3 Posted April 21, 2023 Perhaps for the tunic? Kurt
Basic Rifleman Posted April 21, 2023 Author Share #4 Posted April 21, 2023 Thanks for the help guys. I truly appreciate the positive ID and wear placement. Is it possible this one was meant for a garrison cover? While larger than the collars, it's still not a large badge at about 1 3/8".
