Here's a frogskin annoyed cutter I picked up a year and a half ago at a local antique store. It's a khaki cap with a frogskin helmet cover sewn onto it, it's the only one I've seen like it compared to others that were made of shelter half material. It's named twice to a V. W. BROWN and unfortunately research has been difficult as it's a very common name.

If anyone has pictures of frogskin annoyed cutters being worn or have one in their collection, feel free to share it.

annoyed

Not sure why it says annoyed as it said "annoyed-cutter" before posting.

I never heard of the term annoyed cutter.

Can you explain please?

I tried typing the correct term "pisscutter", but everytime I did and posted, it would be corrected to "annoyed". Which is odd as I've seen the term thrown around on the forum before. Can't edit the post unfortunately so I'm stuck with "annoyed cutter".

they are also known as overseas caps

Thank you, I've seen a few of the shelter half made caps and they're pretty awesome.

“Annoyed cutter”?!  I’m triggered…

Seriously though, nice example.

Haha, wasn't exactly going for "annoyed" cutter, didn't know about the censorship. Thank you, glad to have it in my collection.

Interesting topic, wife and I are currently watching "The Pacific" on Netflix and I noticed several scenes where an officer is wearing a frogskin-patterned overseas cap and I thought it was odd because the cap is identical in every way to the khaki or green cap but made from camo material and I don't recall ever seeing a photo of any Marine wearing a cap like that one (i.e. a perfect factory-made replica of an overseas cap but in frogskin camo.)

So then I jumped on my Google Machine and came across a place that sells them  - only to find that this is actually the company that produced the hats for the HBO mini series.  So I still remain skeptical that the one depicted in the mini series (which appears to be factory made and almost "too perfect") was accurate.

The made-from-a-helmet-cover cap seems to me to be much more authentic, the kind of thing you could imagine an actual Marine making and wearing in the austere environment of the Pacific Theater.

Are there any photos of Marines wearing the "factory perfect" overseas caps in frogskin camo?  I quick internet search does not reveal any.

I have seen a few pictures of these type of frogskin caps being worn, but unfortunately, the quality of the photos are usually too low to make out the construction. I have seen one though that matched the one in The Pacific. The ones made of shelter half material seem to be the more "common" variant, as for the one I have, it's the only one I've seen like it.

Read through this thread a couple times, but just in case I missed something, it appears the OP cap has camo helmet cover applied OVER a standard p-cutter. IMO
