mavrick56 Posted April 7, 2023 #1 Posted April 7, 2023 I have a WWI helmet in my collection which has a net covering. Everything on this helmet looks 100% original, including the netting. I have yet to come across a photo of anyone in WWI wearing a netted helmet. Could this be a reissued lid before the Kellys were introduced? I have seen Kellys with netting used during the early Island Campaigns.
aef1917 Posted April 7, 2023 #2 Posted April 7, 2023 Looks like a WWII-era net added to the helmet for the Battle of Billy's Backyard to me. The top half of the strap looks weird too.
BOLO Posted April 16, 2023 #3 Posted April 16, 2023 looks like WW2 era cargo netting to me , the soldier could have added it during the early years late1930's.
