Here is a Benjamin Electric H9 submarine dive horn from the Sunfish. It is loud. I have it wired 115v. I am looking for the contactor M-VII for it.

Nice Ahooga horn

Most people who attempt to describe the sound of a klaxon come up with something like "AH-OOH-GA," and in fact it's not uncommon to call a klaxon an "ahooga horn." The word klaxon is actually trademarked, describing a specific mechanical horn first made by the Klaxon Company in 1908.

What language is klaxon?
Etymology. From the trademark Klaxon, based on Ancient Greek κλάζω (klázō, “make a sharp sound; scream”) (from Proto-Indo-European *glag- (“to make a noise, clap, twitter”), from *gal- (“to roop, scream, shout”)). The word was coined by Franklyn Hallett Lovell Jr., the founder of the Lovell-McConnell Manufacturing Co.

Dive, Dive, Dive!!!

I only ever knew to associate it with the model T's horn I would see in the old movies growing up. Even after joining the Army after 9/11, I never new about the dive horn sound. Credit given to keeping the "silent" in the submariner motto.

This particular horn was my grandfather's. And after his service he mounted this one in his garage rafters. He had it tied into this huge HO gage model railroad table. As we were playing with and watching the trains he would hit the button. Scared the poop outta me. Even then I never knew this was a dive horn.

I am currently trying to fabricate a contact switch like the Mark VII. The toggle I have now just doesn't get the right sound and approach.

I’ve had several genuine WWII USN klaxons, Benjamin and Federal. I still have a Benjamin dated March 1940 identical to an H8 long projector (on horns, projector is called a bell) type I’ve seen in sub museums. However my 1940 is marked “A4” with no USN acceptance etched on. I don’t know if it’s Army, merchant fleet or what else. I’ll add a photo later. Any thoughts?
