Kropotkin Posted March 28, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2023 Hello, I’ve had a vintage Clarin folding chair with AAF markings on the underside in my possession for a good few years now. What I’ve not established is whether it is genuine WW2 issue or has been doctored to appear so at a later date. Any help on this is much appreciated. American Graffiti Posted March 28, 2023 Share #2 Posted March 28, 2023 Very nice chair, don't know about these things but looks pretty legit to me. Certainly looks like a 40s chair. AG
robinb Posted March 29, 2023 Share #3 Posted March 29, 2023 I think that the markings were added later. They don't conform to any others that I've seen. Frankly, they don't make sense.
Quartermaster Posted March 29, 2023 Share #4 Posted March 29, 2023 How about this one? Obtained from a fellow collector who got it probably in the 1980's or early 1990's if not earlier.

That model folding chair was definitely used by the military, and often have "U.S." and the manufacturer's name stamped into the seat bottom. I've seen them with painted unit markings, but usually at a lower level. I've also seen them with only the manufacturer's name, so apparently this was just a commercial chair that was purchased under military contract. (By the way, I have a number of these available in the central Virginia area if anyone is interested!)

Hi VMI88: I tried to send you a PM about this post, but got a message that said you "cannot receive messages." If it wouldn't be too much of a bother, would you mind hitting me up on the forum PM? Thanks, Mike
