Found some Military items in Moms old barrel

 While cleaning out some old barrels left behind from closed antique store (closed in 1983) I found a small stash
of interesting items

I like the carrier landing deck flags, (guessing thats what they are) sadly no markings

Looks like WWI wood ammo box with white cross
Tank periscope dated 1945 still very clear view
Morse Code box
Medic First Aid Box ?
Lantern
Western bowie Knife, dont think its military
Camo Scarf

Thinking I Should be able to use in some future displays, Maybe

 Thanks I have been trying to figure out weather the Landing Deck Signal Flags ? are WWII or Korea ?
I suspect they could be WWII or Korea simply for the WOODEN handles ?

Those are paddles, and specifically, LSO Paddles (Landing Signal Officer or Landing Safety Officer) and look to be 1950's/1960's Cold War era.  Rectangular was later, round paddles were primarily used in WWII & Korea.

as you mentioned above from the photos I have just been viewing
all WWII look to be oval rather than square

Your knife find is actually a Western G46-8 8” fighting knife- kind of the big brother of the 6” shark knife you have pictured in post #2.  They were indeed military used during WW2 as was the G46-6.  Some good finds, always liked discovering long forgotten about items.

   Thanks my friend, much appreciated Yes it is an 8" blade (12" overall length)
after holding this again I remembered using this to cut down a Palm Tree in
our back yard in 1971 or so. :)

Found another barrel stash :)
 

  I put the ribbons in the Riker Case for safe keeping, Everything was in a shoe box, Most of this would
of been from my collection l left behind when I joined the ARMY. Collected late 60s to early 70s

  Any idea on the Bayonet Scabbard or the chrome bayonet ?
I dont really collect Equipment and curious if they are worth trying to find the Bayonets ?

I believe the chrome bayonet is a WWII German Police bayonet.

Started going through the 300+ TIME CAPSULE barrels my parents left behind.
   Our Collectable Antique store closed in 1981/82 (42 years ago) barrels have been
sitting full since :)
    Anyway pulled this Steel Pot from one, Poor condition (FRONT SEEM)
that had an early FIBER / MATERIAL COVERED Liner.
I see why they were phased out so quickly VERY easily damaged

  Noticed the 1982 Price written in grease pencil 6.95 :)

Its a kick to see the prices on some of this stuff

BUT I do remember there was a stack of Military Medals in the old Mother of Pearl PUSH BUTTON
coffin cases so those should be fun to find. I remember not liking that style case so did not collect those
them back then :(

Solingen (Zoling'n) has been a major knife producing area of Germany for centuries. Böker, Wüsthof, and many others are still making knives there.

Thinking about Knives I pulled this one out maybe a week ago, We had from what I remember more than a few
in our store and never thought they were military but looking at this one now I am not sure

I believe that's an Air Force survival knife included with a pilot's kit.

Thanks did some forum searching on Air Force Survival Knife and found some
info on where to look for the date stamp
after some cleaning to reveal the date and maker

Fits with us having a box full in 1982 :) First store was near an Air Force Reserve unit
