VNAMVET70 Posted March 21, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2023 Procured a 1968 Gerber Mark II with a named blade some time ago. I always wondered about it's 4 digit serial number (9582) on it. The website militarycarryknives states "Serial numbers between 9525 and 9989 are missing two leading zeros." Still questioned it. Yesterday a 1968 Gerber Mark II sold at auction with a 4 digit serial number (9565). It caught my attention because of it's close proximity serial number to mine, and the numerical stamping is so similar in appearance. Check the serial numbers out. The first two pix are of my Gerber Mark II. I'm now a believer that the stamping dies were at fault for the missing two leading zeros.

VNAMVET70 Posted March 21, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted March 21, 2023 Spike, Great! I have never seen a document to prove this. Our 1968 Gerber Mark II's are more physical evidence the supposition is true.
