Vpep Posted March 19, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2023 Hello Everyone I hope you’re all staying warm on this last day of winter. I just picked this up yesterday from FBM. I’ve always wanted one of these for a future planned barracks display. This one popped up locally and cheap. I was definitely lucky to get it before it got snapped up. This is a 1943 dated No 1 space heater for barracks. It burned coal or wood. The previous owner didn’t know Any history about it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it came from Camp Upton in Yaphank. I hope to do some minor cosmetic restoration to it as soon as it warms up. I’ll try to post some photos when it’s complete. I hope everyone enjoys these pics. robinb Posted March 19, 2023 Share #2 Posted March 19, 2023 I saved one from a scrapper a few years ago. They would have gotten 1.5 cents per pound for it. I got it for $20.
Vpep Posted March 19, 2023 Author Share #3 Posted March 19, 2023 That’s fantastic. From my research, I’ve found there is a secondary market for these. There are people that enjoy restoring and running old coal stoves. Some of them go for a lot of money.
