patches Posted March 16 Share #1 Posted March 16 Came across this photo of an Awards Formation in Thionville in Eastern France November 1944 with the 1139th Engineer Combat Group, check out the Captain there, did a double take at first, I'm seeing a White Armband, on him so maybe he's a Doctor in one of the units of the Group, or the Group itself. No names are given unfortunately.
Com-Z Posted March 16 Share #2 Posted March 16 Imagine trying to get all the types of uniforms - and having them fit. Even his boots look special.
collectsmedals Posted March 17 Share #3 Posted March 17 The soldier all the way to the right in the same line looks to be about the same size. As someone who is 5'4" 130 lbs. and wears a 6.5 men's shoe size I totally empathize with him, I had a heck of a time getting a pair of BoonDockers that fit in boot camp. 268th C.A. Posted Wednesday at 05:11 PM Share #5 Posted Wednesday at 05:11 PM I'll add this too, I had a good friend who was short, I called him little Eddie. But one thing for sure he was a good friend and many times in my corner. Eddie could take on the biggest and he was one scrappy guy. I guess he had too fight a lot as he was small and usually they get picked on. I said he was like a Tasmanian Devil going around in a fight. He was tough.
