How does one date a Ka bar----

1st Sgt CES

Hello Everyone---- I think that I have Two World War Two Ka bars from what I read. Any Help will be great and a value would help too. one is marked KABAR -OLEAN , NY-- the other is KABAR  USN M2 The scabbard is marked USN MK2 NORD 4723  B.M. CO _2 VP with ** under the letters any help will great great --- Thanks Mark

Both are made by Union Cutlery aka Ka-bar and WW2 era. The USN knife is the Mark2 designation. Its a earlier variation before they stopped stamping the blade and then went to stamping the guard. 

 

The second knife is Kabars "Commando" model and is a general utility knife said to be a private purchase knife rather than issued. There are a few topics here on the forum showing variations of the Kabar Commando.
