Randy Posted March 8, 2023 Share #6 Posted March 8, 2023 More specifically, this yellow 46th Tactical Fighter Squadron version was used 62-71 at MacDill AFB, with F-4 aircraft. Yours is US made, there is a Japanese version used early to mid 60s. The red may have first appeared when the 46th TFS was reactivated in 1975 at Grissom AFB flying A-37s. Deactivated again in 1978. Activated as the 46th Tactical Fighter Training Squadron in 1983 at Barksdale AFB with A-10s. Red was used for sure during this time frame, and even though it was a TFTS they used TFS on their patch the whole time until 1992-1993 when Tactical was dropped and the unit again deactivated. The top pic is TFS era, middle is TFTS and bottom is FS. Not sure if FTS was an official designation as all other TFTS units were know as just FS. Randy Posted May 8, 2023 Share #9 Posted May 8, 2023 There are two versions of that as well. The one without a tab is older. 1952-1958 at Dover, which I assume is why you're looking for one. The tabbed one does surface from time to time, so hang in there. Randy
