SKIPH Posted March 5, 2023 Share #1 Posted March 5, 2023 Hey gang! Once again study up on your hobby. Here is an unknown M3 type knife, with what appears to be a poorly replaced handle, and a USMC stamped "WMCO" repro M6 scabbard. THis is being sold as an early USMC knife. Also the seller made an indication that the scabbard was made by "Moose". Ebay item # 115722591624, w/ a by now price of $349. New collectors, don't get fooled by flaky ads, or descriptions, get the books, study. If someone could post the ad for study it would be appreciated. RWW Posted March 5, 2023 Share #2 Posted March 5, 2023 This what I believe to be an early M3 USMC fighting knife with what I've seen called Moose Company leather Sheath..either way the sheath is marked USMC 1943..it is very rare.
MattS Posted March 5, 2023 Share #3 Posted March 5, 2023 Does that scabbard say “USMC” or “USM6”?
opseccc Posted March 5, 2023 Share #4 Posted March 5, 2023 Looks like a "6" to me.
SKIPH Posted March 5, 2023 Author Share #5 Posted March 5, 2023 Supposed to be M6, but sure looks like USMC. Either way one looks, it is still a fake. WMCO M6 scabbards have been around since the 90s, selling for around $10 each. SKIP
dmar836 Posted March 6, 2023 Share #6 Posted March 6, 2023 That thing looks like every part of it has been wire brushed and aged. Just looks really, really "off" for the age/use. I'm surprised a serious knife collector would consider it based on that alone. Dave
WarBaby Posted March 6, 2023 Share #7 Posted March 6, 2023 That looks like one fancy butterknife for Thanksgiving. Rolls anyone?
