I took a shot on eBay and got lucky! This is a great-coat that exhibits a PhM 1/c rank on the left sleeve and is in good condition with some moth holes. Upon receiving the coat I realized that it was named (which was not stated or shown in the eBay photos) to both "C. Marlow" (crossed out) and "G. M. Lampert PhM 2/c USNR" upon further research both men could be positively identified as Godfrey M. Lampert and Charles Marlow. Godfrey was drafted from the USNR in 1942 and was assigned to MAG-11 in 1942 and was attached to VMF-132 in late 1942 and would go on to participate in the Guadalcanal campaign with the unit till being sent to El Toro in 1944 and staying till the end of the war. Charles Marlow was a Marine with a long career spanning many years beginning in 1938 and ending in Korea, before the war he was in a defense battalion in South America but in 1942 was assigned to the 11th Marine Regiment and was sent to Guadalcanal. After surviving the canal, he would take part in both the battles of Cape Gloucester and Peleliu, in which he would survive both and be sent back home. Both of these stories are amazing and it is an honor to hold and tell their stories, and all due to some good luck and 80 bucks.

A great named (X2) item. Congrats. The names and the history of those 2 servicemen adds so must to the otherwise very nice coat.
