A beat up Elastolin with chips, cracks, paint loss and missing pieces but he still puts on a fight.

Not an American gas mask.

A bundle of stick grenades for every GI.

This isn’t his first grenade, he’s got cracks all over proving his ability to pitch.

Now every Lineol American soldier in this collection is painted the same until I realized I had these 2 with the brown helmets.

They aren’t British because of their paint, they could be Canadian?

Here is a group of soldiers by Elastolin, Lineol and a couple unnamed all 7cm.

Ive heard people call these soldiers Swiss and also Finns.

My second favorite of this group is the unnamed soldier with a mortar, never seen this figure before.

Looks like there may be some writing around the left side top edge of the motor base ?

Those are hash marks but I thought the same thing when I saw the picture.

Like how the Germans repurposed these compositions with a new head to represent different countries….Britains did it as well, but the larger scale composition figures makes it more obvious. Always liked the range of poses and activities the German made, vice the limited Britains range.

What I like about Britains are the colors, pageantry and their military vehicles.

When I was 8 years old I found my Dad’s Dutch Durso and Elastolins with several vehicles.

For years I searched for more but in all the wrong places but towards my early 20s I had the opportunity to buy several large collections with the accompanying education.

That included Britains which I buy and sell.

Speaking of any idea who the maker is Johillco?

John Hill Co (Johillco) was a rival company started by a former Britains employee they lasted thru the 50’s….most of their figures were below Britains standards via painting, casting etc, but sometimes they produced some that were outstanding and surpassed Britains. Peter really enjoying this thread!

Dirk, do you think that motorcycle is Johillco?

It has a name but it’s hard to make out.

Glad you enjoyed it.

There will be more.

I loved those things and collected them before I started in on German war souvenirs as a kid: you could find them in a handful of antique stores in the 1960s all the time.
